About MITRA

The Erasmus Mundus MITRA Master’s program was created in 2012 under the title “Intercultural Mediation: Identities, Mobilities, Conflicts.” It later evolved to analyze what is commonly referred to as the “migration crisis” in contemporary European societies.

Seeking to move beyond this Eurocentric discourse, the teaching teams of the MITRA Master gradually placed migratory phenomena at the center of the program. Renamed “International Migrations,” the MITRA Master now focuses more specifically on the study of migration dynamics, both at the local and transnational levels, using the methods and tools of all social sciences.

The MITRA Master is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s (EMJM) program co-financed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) since 2012. It has received three funding grants: 2012–2018, 2018–2025, and 2025–2031.

The consortium was built on the complementarity of disciplinary approaches and the diversity of locations. The different program tracks thus offer numerous opportunities for fieldwork and professional internships in the host countries.
