Other available scholarships

Other scholarships besides the Erasmus Mundus scholarships can help you to fund your studies in the MITRA Master’s program.

First, there are scholarships offered by the University of Lille to all students going abroad for studies or internships.

Mobility Scholarships

  • Erasmus Scholarships: Mainly awarded for destinations within the Erasmus+ program. Duration ranges from 2 to 12 months per study cycle. The University of Lille usually has a sufficient budget to fund all study and internship mobility through this instrument. Since 2021, universities have had the option to allocate a small part of the Erasmus budget for destinations outside Europe (“Erasmus Outside Europe”). For more information, see: https://agence.erasmusplus.fr/aide-a-la-mobilite-erasmus/bourse-erasmus-enseignement-superieur/
  • Mermoz Scholarships: Offered by the Regional Council of Hauts-de-France, the French region where the University of Lille is located. It is awarded based on the Family Quotient (QF) with a decreasing scale. It provides funding for 3 to 6 months, once during the university program. At the University of Lille, it is awarded to students with a QF below €30,000 for destinations outside Europe and below €20,000 for students going to Europe. Eligible students are either French nationals or foreign nationals who have been residing in France for 2 years at the time of the scholarship application.
  • International Mobility Grants (AMI): Funded by the French Ministry of Higher Education for students receiving a Crous scholarship (Regional Center for University and School Services). It provides funding of €400/month for 2 to 9 months throughout the university program. At the University of Lille, it is limited to 6 months per mobility per year to allow funding for more students.

Excellence Scholarships

  • Moblilex: University of Lille scholarship for incoming and outgoing mobility at the Master’s and Doctoral levels. Students eligible for at least one of the scholarships mentioned above cannot apply for Moblilex. There are 2 calls for applications per year, in September and in March/April.
  • Summer School and Winter School: The University of Lille offers financial support of €400 for students wishing to enroll in one of these programs. Eligible destinations are primarily countries participating in the Erasmus program.
  • Graduate Program Scholarship at the University of Lille: See https://graduate-programmes.univ-lille.fr/bourses-dexcellence

Next, there are numerous scholarships offered by the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), where the English-language track of the MITRA Master’s program begins. These scholarships are available depending on the student’s status and mobility destination. They can all be found here: https://www.studyinbelgium.be/fr/bourses?page=0

Finally, there are other scholarship opportunities. For example, the Francophone University Agency (AUF) offers Master’s scholarships to support international student exchanges. Since the MITRA Master’s is a Francophone program, you can apply for them: https://www.auf.org/ressources-et-services/bourses/. Private foundations also offer scholarships to international students. We do not list them here, but you should explore the opportunities they provide.
